James Watt a Scottish inventor, mechanical engineer and chemist, was born on 19th January 1736 (old style).He is the inventor of the “Watt steam Engine” which was an improvement of the Newcomen’s steam engine and is also known to have developed the concept of horsepower and the SI unit of power, the watt, was named after him.
Many countries have issued stamps honoring James Watt. One stamp of Great Britain issued in 2009 depicts James watt with the image of his steam engine is the background.
